The return experience is the moment a customer decides whether they'll buy from you again. Most of that decision gets made in the first two minutes: how hard is it to send the item back, and how long until they're made whole; whether that's a refund, store credit, or the replacement they actually wanted.
Today we're announcing that Corso has partnered with Happy Returns, a UPS company, to bring box-free, label-free drop-off into the Corso returns experience. Any time a shopper needs to send an item back (a refund, an exchange, store credit), they can now drop it off unboxed and unlabeled at a Happy Returns Return Bar®, and merchants get that inventory back through Happy Returns' consolidated reverse logistics network.
What changes for shoppers
Whenever a shopper would be required to mail an item back, the Corso portal now offers drop-off as the alternative:
- No box, no label, no printer. The shopper brings the item and a QR code.
- 10,000+ drop-off locations nationwide. 79% of the U.S. population lives within five miles of a Return Bar, and more than a quarter live within one mile.
- Resolution starts the moment they hand it over. Refunds confirm on the spot, and exchanges and credits move without waiting days for a carrier scan.
What changes for merchants
- Faster reverse logistics. Happy Returns consolidates and ships returns in bulk rather than one parcel at a time, with average return transit around seven days.
- One portal, one set of rules. Drop-off slots into the Corso workflows you already run. The same eligibility windows, fee automation, exchange incentives, and approval rules apply, whatever the customer chose.
- Fraud controls stay on. Corso's Claim Risk scoring continues to run across returns, warranties, and shipping claims regardless of which return method the shopper picks.
- Exchanges get faster, not sidelined. Shop Now and Instant Exchanges are where drop-off pays off most: the customer picks their replacement, hands the original over the same day, and the return leg stops being the slow part. On Instant Exchanges, that also shortens the window your pre-authorization is exposed.
Why we built it
Corso’s goal is to help merchants keep the revenue, not just process the refund. Every exchange still starts with the customer getting the wrong item back to you, and that leg where the customer needs to find a box, print a label, get to a carrier is where exchanges stall and turn into refund requests. Removing it helps the outcome you want most, not just the one you want least.
Happy Returns operates the largest box-free, label-free return network in the country, more than three times the size of the next alternative. That reach is what makes drop-off a real option for most of a brand's customer base rather than a perk for people who live near a mall.
